"...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14
This past week has been a difficult one for me (Andrea). We had Orlando's CT scan results that we needed to get to the hospital, but were unable to because of weather - a tropical storm hit the Atlantic Coast and produced incredible rains and winds over our area of Nicaragua. So we were forced to stay inside most of the time and it was dangerous for Orlando's health for him to go out in this kind of weather. On Tuesday night, it hit me - just ask God to clear the skies so you can get to the hospital. I pray everyday for Orlando and his health but it hadn't occurred to me to ask God to clear the skies. I had just accepted that this was the weather and I had to live with it and wait it out, but the truth is God is in control of it all. So from the moment that this occurred to me I started praying. Before I went to bed that night I prayed fervently that God would break the storm and let the sun shine, and any time I woke up in the middle of the night and heard rain I just prayed He would break the storm and let the sun shine. Wednesday morning, I woke up and it looked fairly clear but not completely so I continued to pray. Anytime I would start to hear rain drops I would say a little prayer and it would almost immediately stop raining. We were able to get to the hospital with clear skies.
Some may say that it was just timing and the storm was ready to pass, but I wholeheartedly believe that God hears our prayers and sometimes He is just waiting for us to call on Him, even in the little things, and He is waiting to answer us. We are His precious children and He loves us more than anything in this world.
